The legendary White Lions are the most charismatic animal on earth, and yet, tragically, the most targeted trophy. Considered the ‘King of Kings’ by African shaman elders, they have been removed from their natural habitat in zoos and circuses around the world and, worse, captive in South Africa, where they have been actively bred for hunting.

After being saved by a shamaness, a Tsonga medicine woman, from a dangerous encounter with a pride of lions in 1991, Linda Tucker gave up a career in international marketing and fashion to become a conservationist. Since then, she has dedicated her life to the urgent protection of the critically endangered White Lion, considered ‘the King of Kings’ by African elders. Despite their rarity and cultural importance, White Lions have never had a protected status and can be hunted in the wild and in captivity.

To ensure the survival of this rare, legendary animal, Linda Tucker has raised millions of dollars in a long-term strategy to secure vast tracts of protected territory in Timbavati National Park, the ancestral lands of the White Lions.

, and a team of specialists, Linda Tucker has been responsible for returning the White Lions to their natural endemic habitat after decades of artificial removal from their natural system had virtually extinguished them. The first lioness to return to her ancestral realm was Queen Marah, considered a sacred animal by indigenous African elders.

Since then, the non-profit organisation has implemented a multi-level strategy that includes the ‘White Lion Protection Plan’, a carefully monitored scientific reintroduction programme of White Lions back to their ancestral lands and the protection of the cultural heritage of the Sepedi and Tsonga peoples who honour White Lions as sacred heritage.

Educated at Cambridge University (in the 1980s) and specialising in indigenous knowledge systems from African shamans (1994-2001), Linda Tucker is regularly invited as a guest speaker at international conferences, public events and television interviews.

Her story is the subject of a full-length documentary for ‘National Geographic’, and has been widely covered in over 30 international television programmes including Reuters, CBS, Animal Planet and NHK Japan.
